For two weeks, Tianjin University “Tan Meng” team, a team from the College of Intelligence and Computing assisting impoverished people in Tanchang County, Gansu province, have painted an entire 430 square meters of walls with beautiful paintings for this county town with their expertise.
Since late July, the "Tan Meng" team has created wall paintings on the walls of Tanchang Library, Tanchang No.1 Middle School, Xingchang Bee Products Co. Ltd., Nanyang Town, among other places. The team is mainly made up of students majoring in animation, with "painting" as their specialty. Members of the team carefully painted lively outdoor wall paintings, creating a series of "animatedly talking walls".
"The creations by Tianjin University students are so beautiful and folksy that all citizens seeing them speak highly of their works." Said Liu Hui, chairman of the Tanchang County Federation of Literary and Art Circles.
"Poverty alleviation requires a change of people’s attitude to increase their confidence. These wall paintings enrich the spiritual and cultural life of the people, cheering our county's poverty alleviation!" He added.
Zheng Xinrui, the team leader and undergraduate admitted in 2018 majoring in animation, said: "Being able to apply my professional knowledge to help poverty alleviation will be an unforgettable highlight during my college life."
Tanchang County is Tianjin University’s targeted support county. In recent years, Tianjin University has made full efforts in the county’s poverty alleviation through education, intellectual support, consumption, industry, and health care. Every winter and summer vacations, Tianjin University organizes faculty and student teams to go to Tanchang County, presenting packs of "cheering for dream pursuit", giving lectures on robots and marine life to local students, as well as creating wall paintings, forming a series of highlights in poverty alleviation through culture.
