Zang Boping was born in Tang County, Zhili (now Hebei Province) in 1913. He graduated from Peking Republic University. He held many important posts locally and nationally in CPC. He was the County Party Secretary of Tang Xian County (1937), Head of Jianping County and Lingshou County (1941) in Hebei Province, Commissioner of the 4th and 11th Government Office in the Shanxi-Chahar- Hebei Border Area, Standing Member of the Prefectural Party Committee (1943), and the Director of Shijiazhuang Construction Bureau as well as the Secretary-general of the Municipal Government, etc. from 1947.
After the founding of PRC (People’s Republic of China), he served successively as the Mayor of Shijiazhuang, Director of Hebei Provincial Construction Bureau, Director of the 7th Bureau of the Second Ministry of Machine-Building Industry, Deputy Party Secretary of Beijing Aeronautical and Astronautical Institute, Party Secretary and President of Nankai University, Party Secretary and President of Tianjin University, Vice Minister of Ministry of Education (1979). He was elected the Member of the 6th and 7th National Committee of CPPCC.
He assumed presidency in Tianjin University from 1977 to 1978.
